Once Naples started to grow outside of what was referred to as ‘Naples’, Port Royal, Park Shore and Pelican Bay were the first high end master planned communities to be developed. Bay Colony was the first of the very high end sections of Pelican Bay to be on the beach and almost considered a separate development. Bay Colony and The Ritz Carlton Beach Resort were being developed at the same time. At that point in Naples’ history, people would chuckle because they couldn’t figure out why in the world someone would spend $300,000 for a condo on the beach! Those buyers had the last laugh for sure.
Today, Bay Colony is a world-class address. Both the price tags and the amenities are world class. Whereas Bay Colony is a gated area within Pelican Bay, Bay Colony has its own beach club with 4-star restaurant, its own tennis center and fitness center. The residents of Bay Colony wanted their own golf club and so they expanded over in to the Pelican Marsh Development and formed The Estates at Bay Colony.
As far as residential types are concerned in Bay Colony, there are six (6) high rise condo buildings directly on the beach; there are 12 significant single family estate homes directly on the beach; there are four (4) mid-rise condo buildings set back from the beach but with Gulf views from the higher levels; there is a substantial villa sub division; and then there is Bay Colony Shores which is an area made up entirely of substantial estate homes. Estates at Bay Colony, which is a ‘subdivision’ within Pelican Marsh is the location of the golf club.
Selling Prices in Bay Colony in 2013 have ranged from $1.0 to $10.0.
